This 1964 GTO hardtop coupe is in great shape and ready to hit the road! This first year GTO was originally put together in February of 64, in Kansas City. It was purchased new in Iowa, before finding a home in a large private collection in Oklahoma. The southern climate treated this vehicle well; the sheet metal on this vehicle is in excellent condition. The paint in the original Starlight Black is in good condition. The chrome bright package is in similarly good shape. The rally style wheels are wrapped in redline tires with plenty of life left. All in all this is a very sharp GTO. The original black interior is in excellent shape. The seats are without tears or cracking. Despite years in the south, there is no sign of sun fading etc. An aftermarket tachometer, tucked below the dash, aids with shifting points.
Under the hood lies a 389ci V8 with Tri-power carburetors, which the vehicle was originally optioned with. This engine equipped with Tri-Power carburetors is famous in muscle car history. The large displacement has led many to claim that the 1964 GTO is the first true muscle car. That beast of a power plant is in great mechanical condition and runs very well. The 4-Speed manual transmission shifts exactly as it should. This vehicle was optioned with both power steering and power brakes. It is a breeze to drive, but when the pedal is down this GTO really gets the heart racing. It is turn key and ready to find a new home.
