Although the original Vortec V8 was intact, the decision was made to install a new LS9 crate engine from GM, as well as the accompanying performance components to accommodate the Dry Sump, supercharged 638 horsepower engine. A strengthened 1-ton 4-speed $L80E automatic transmission was added along with upgraded 6 Piston Baer brakes on all corners, Superlift lowering suspension, 35-spline Dana 60 rear end with Detroit Locker rear differential, upgraded trans and engine cooling, custom traction bars, and much more. The engine swap and the installation of its associated parts were all performed by a Chevrolet dealership! Yep that’s right folks the big bucks were spent to do this one by the books! The Baer brakes use cross drilled and vented rotors measuring 14” in diameter up front and 13” in back. The new 20″ GMC alloys wear Goodyear Eagle LS-2 tires. he 6.2-liter supercharged LS9 V8 is a hand-built crate engine from General Motors that was installed by the technicians at Titus Will Chevrolet of Olympia, Washington. Wicked Fabrication in Auburn, Washington provided the custom fabrication work and also serviced and tuned the truck throughout the first 1k miles of break in. Factory output numbers for the motor are 638 horsepower and 604 lb-ft of torque. The engine retains its factory dry sump oiling system and is equipped with a Lingenfelter pulley and ECU kit, custom headers, and a full flow exhaust system. Spanky’s Rod Shop custom fuel injectors were installed, and a ZR1 fuel pump feeds a secondary Aeromotive fuel pump. Cooling is provided by an oversized Be Cool system, and a Spanky’s Rod Shop wiring harness and cruise control module are dealer serviceable as factory Corvette ZR1 electronics with GM plugs. A GM performance front axle with 3.73 gears and bearings has been upgraded with Driveshaft Shop Level 5 half shafts and strengthened main caps. The 4L80E 4-speed automatic transmission has been strengthened and utilizes a Billet input shaft, performance shift kit, TCI Maximizer torque converter, TCI forged flexplate, and oversized transmission cooler. Out back, a custom Dana 60 rear end features shot peened 3.73 R&P gearing, 35-spline axles, a Detroit Locker rear differential rated for 1000+ horsepower applications, and Billet aluminum main caps.
